1. What cookies are
A cookie is a small text file that a website stores on your device when you visit it. It is used to store and retrieve information about your browsing, from remembering a preference to identifying your browser for advertising or statistics. Alongside cookies there are equivalent technologies, such as the browser’s local storage (localStorage), tracking pixels and device identifiers, which work in a similar way and are subject to the same rules.
This policy explains exactly what VOLKAR Fit uses and complements our privacy policy.
2. Our approach
VOLKAR Fit uses the bare minimum on its own: a single local storage entry to remember whether you accept or decline cookies. Everything else comes from advertising and is only activated if you give your consent. The data you enter in the calculator is never saved in cookies or anywhere else.
3. Types of cookies by purpose
- Technical or necessary: essential for the page to work and to remember choices you have made yourself, such as your cookie choice. They do not require prior consent.
- Preferences or personalization: remember settings such as language or region. We do not currently use any.
- Analytics or measurement: let us study aggregated use of the site. We do not currently use any analytics tool; if we add one in the future, this policy will be updated and we will ask for your consent.
- Behavioral advertising: build a browsing profile to show ads tailored to your interests. These are set by Google AdSense and are only activated if you accept them.
Depending on who manages them, cookies can also be first-party (set from our domain) or third-party (set by other providers from their own domains), and depending on how long they last, session cookies (deleted when you close the browser) or persistent cookies (kept for a set period).
4. Our own cookies and storage
| Name | Type | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|
volkarfit_consentimiento_cookies | First-party technical (localStorage) | Stores whether you accepted or declined advertising cookies, so we do not show you the banner on every visit. | Up to 12 months or until you clear the site’s data |
volkarfit_consentimiento_fecha | First-party technical (localStorage) | Records the date of that choice, so we can prove consent and renew it when it expires. | Up to 12 months or until you clear the site’s data |
These two entries contain no identifying data: only the word “accepted” or “declined” and a date. They are stored in your own browser and are not sent to any server.
5. Third-party cookies: Google AdSense
If you accept advertising cookies, Google AdSense (Google Ireland Limited) services are loaded and may set cookies from the domains google.com, googlesyndication.com and doubleclick.net. The most common are:
| Name | Owner | Purpose | Approximate duration |
|---|---|---|---|
__gads | Measure interaction with ads, limit how many times the same ad is shown and detect invalid traffic. | Up to 13 months | |
__gpi | Store an advertising identifier used for ad personalization. | Up to 13 months | |
IDE / DSID | Google (DoubleClick) | Record and report user actions after viewing or clicking an ad, to measure its effectiveness and show personalized ads. | Up to 13 months |
test_cookie | Google (DoubleClick) | Check whether the browser supports cookies. | 15 minutes |
NID | Remember user preferences and personalize ads shown in Google services. | Up to 6 months |
The names, purposes and durations above are those Google publicly documents and may change when the provider updates its systems. Up-to-date information is available on Google’s cookies page and in types of cookies used by Google advertising.
Third-party cookies are managed by the provider itself: we decide whether to load their scripts based on your consent, but we do not control their content and cannot access the information they collect.
Fonts and the PDF generator are served from our own domain, so the site makes no requests to third-party servers unless you accept advertising.
6. Your consent
When advertising is active, the first time you visit the site we show a banner with basic information and two clear, equivalent options: “Accept all” and “Decline”. Until you choose, no advertising cookies are loaded: only the necessary technical ones are used, since they are exempt from consent.
Declining is as easy as accepting, costs nothing, carries no penalty and does not limit your use of the calculator or any other part of the site. Your choice is stored in your browser for up to twelve months; after that, we will ask again.
7. How to change or withdraw your choice
You can change your choice at any time, without giving a reason:
- By clicking the “Cookie preferences” link in the footer of any page, which shows the banner again so you can choose.
- By clearing the site’s data in your browser, which also deletes the record of your consent so we ask you again on your next visit.
Withdrawing consent does not affect the lawfulness of earlier processing. If third-party cookies had already been set, you should also delete them in your browser settings, as explained below.
8. How to manage cookies in your browser
Every browser lets you view, block and delete cookies and use private browsing. These are the official instructions for the most common ones:
You can also manage personalized advertising centrally in Google’s ad settings and opt out with many providers at Your Online Choices.
9. What happens if you decline
Nothing that matters to you: the calculator, the macro split, the supplements section and the PDF download work exactly the same, because all of that runs in your browser and does not depend on any cookie. The only difference is that personalized advertising scripts will not load; generic ads or empty ad spaces may appear instead.
Note that if you also block local storage, your choice cannot be saved and the banner may appear on every visit. That is an unavoidable technical consequence: if we cannot remember your “no”, we have to ask again.
10. Updates to this policy
This policy may be updated when we add new services, when providers change their cookies or when the applicable law changes. We recommend reviewing it from time to time; the date at the end shows the latest version. If changes involve new purposes, we will ask for your consent again.
